A 51-minute-long theatrical performance, exploring the art of dressmaking, is going on at the famous Parisian fashion museum Musée Galliera.

Designed by the museum director and curator Olivier Saillard, the stage performance, starring veteran British actress and model Tilda Swinton, aims to condense the history of contemporary fashion by reflecting the summation of twentieth century trends through one single dress.

Titled as ‘Eternity Dress’, the show depicts the step-by-step process of making a garment, starting from lines and measurements then gradually moving to sewing of collars and sleeves and ultimately draping in vibrant shades of chiffons and velvets.

Scheduled to run daily till November 24, 2013, the performance ends with the unfurling of the final dress- a long sleeve black sheath with open back.

One of the highlights of the show was 53-year-old actress Tilda Swinton posing in the signature poses of the iconic fashion houses, including Poiret, Yohji Yamamoto, Chanel, Dior, Mugler, YSL and Jean Paul Gaultier.

The event was attended by industry powerhouses like Gaultier, Christian Lacroix, Bouchra Jarrar, Martine Sitbon, and Clare Waight Keller and Haider Ackermann.
