Salvadoran textiles sector creates 2158 jobs in Jan-Oct'13

The textile and clothing sector of the Central American country of El Salvador created 2,158 new jobs, from January to October 2013, as per the data released by the Chamber of Textiles, Clothing and Free Zones of El Salvador (CAMTEX).
 
According to the CAMTEX data, the textile and clothing sector of the country generated 73,795 payroll jobs, during the first ten months of 2013, which is an increase of 3 percent, compared to the 71,637 jobs generated in the sector during the same period last year.
 
During the first ten months of 2013, average salary paid to employees in the textiles and clothing sector of El Salvador was US$ 246.9 per month.
 
As per the CAMTEX data, the textile and clothing sector of the Central American country exported goods worth US$ 2.007 billion, during the period of January to October 2013, indicating a surge of 8.2 percent year-on-year.
 
In 2012, textile and garment exports fetched US$ 2.196 billion for El Salvador. Of which, cotton textiles and apparel accounted for US$ 1.436 billion, while synthetic textiles and apparel earned US$ 505.25 million, and other textiles were valued at US$ 254.58 million.
 
The textile and apparel industry is one of the strongest pillars of the El Salvadoran economy as it accounts for over half of the total exports made by the country.
