Another blast from the past is in the offing as the Kent State University Museum is prepping up to organize an exhibit dedicated entirely to the changing dynamics of women’s fashion during the First World War (WWI) era.

The museum is slated to host the event entitled ‘The Great War: Women and Fashion in a World Transformed’ from July 24, 2014 to July 5, 2015.

Curated by Sara Hume, the exhibit would primarily aim to highlight the terrific technological, social and political upheavals that impacted the way women dressed during the historical war, which lasted for four long years (1914 to 1918).

The exhibition will also explore the changes in women’s lives that happened during the first quarter of the twentieth century, where women started participating in various ways into the war.

The event would additionally give an insight into the gradual emancipation of women in terms of style during that period, which encouraged the fairer sex to shun cumbersome petticoats and rigid whalebone corsets in lieu of slim, clean lines and serviceable suits.
