After a number of years of crisis, things are starting to brighten up. And perhaps this also applies to the design industry, which is one of the industries that has been hard hit in recent years.
Last week, Scandinavia's new design fair, DesignTrade, ended in Bella Center, and several of the exhibitors reported greater sales than they had expected.
One of the exhibitors is Cozy Living from Copenhagen: "We had record sales on the first two days of the fair and many international and Scandinavian buyers came by us," says owner Tine Timm.
The fair has a central location
Also, Swedish exhibitor Miljögården, which has sold furniture, design and fixtures since 1985, took more orders than expected and is also pleased with the location of the fair: "DesignTrade is centrally located in Scandinavia, which is very good for our Swedish customers, who do not always manage to stop by us in Sweden. At the same time, many of our Danish customers have come back, so we are very positive," says daily manager and co-owner Joachim Wihlborg.
Another one, who also sees the geographical location as an advantage, is Christian Vedel Egly, partner at the design company Walnut Street: "The infrastructure to Copenhagen is good, and the fair is easily accessible, which is why we have also been visited by many Scandinavian customers" says Christian Vedel Egly.
Significant trade and knowledge platform
This is the second time that DesignTrade was held, and the fair management is very pleased with the proceedings: "Many exhibitors have had a very rewarding fair with large sales and many new contacts, which affirms DesignTrade as a significant trade and marketing platform where relevant buyers from both here in Denmark and abroad stop by. In addition, there has also been good attendance at our lectures on the new stage
Shopper's Stage, which confirms that in future we will still need to enhance the fair as a knowledge platform for those interested in design," says Product Manager Rasmus Øland.
DesignTrade January 2014 had 233 exhibitors and 7,024 visitors.
