NASA maps at Louis Vuitton's Paris menswear show

NASA’s maps from the outer space provided the backdrop for French fashion house Louis Vuitton’s catwalk show, staged on the second day of ongoing Paris Menswear Fashion Week.

Designed by the label’s menswear director of British origin Kim Jones, the Fall/Winter 2014/2015 line is primarily targeted towards the stylish globetrotters of today. Drawing inspiration from the plains of South America and the 1990’s trends, the line included furry-chest blue sweaters, border-striped cashmere coats, wine red parkas, narrow pants and vicuña wool made travel suits.

Nun-styled veils and paratrooper garbs were the driving theme behind American fashion designer Rick Owens’ ready-to-wear collection, exploring different facets of masculine authority. Primarily made from leather, the line included long oversize coats, sleeveless leather tunics, shorts, biker jackets, utility vests and boxy jumpsuits in tones of dirt brown, black and gray.

Croatian-born designer Damir Doma’s collection was hinted towards both futuristic as well as relaxed sporty vibes. Marked by black and grey, the pieces, which ranged from practical outerwear to suiting, highlighted vivid patterns, material blocking techniques and silhouettes.

Belgian designer Dries Van Noten chose to create his latest designs in an eye-catching palatte of pop colours like fuchsias, marine and azure blues, acidic yellow and forest green. The sartorially mashed-up pieces included plush velvet smoking jackets, jeans, tailed waistcoats, tie-dye pants, ruffled tuxedo shirts, denim bomber jackets, panelled trousers and fur stoles.
