Within the tradable component, the fall in international airfares more than offset the rise in petrol prices. From the March 2005 quarter to the March 2006 quarter, the non-tradable component increased 4.2 percent and the tradable component increased 2.1 percent.
Upward movements in the March 2006 quarter were also recorded for personal and health care (up 0.9 percent) and credit services (up 0.7 percent).
Apart from transportation, apparel was the only other group to record a downward movement (down 0.4 percent). Downward contributions within these groups came from household appliances and furnishings (down 1.1 percent) and footwear (down 1.4 percent).
