Serkan Cura shows on final day at haute couture week

Serkan Cura, the latest receiver of haute couture appellation from the French fashion industry governing body Chambre Syndicale de la haute couture, opened the final day of Paris Haute Couture Week with his heavy on feather collection.

The Belgian designer, who made his debut as a permanent couturier at the glamorous event, showcased an exotic line of nipped at waist corseted dresses. Decorated with leather fringes and raven feather trims, the range included asymmetrical mini strapless satin gowns, plush sweeping robes and an ostrich feather-adorned dress.

A natural garden in full bloom was the inspiration behind Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad’s latest Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Replete with flower embroidery and appliqué work, the range highlighted sweetheart neckline, full skirted numbers. Based on a pastel palette of turquoise, lavender, pink and off-white shades, the ensembles included several cinched-waist gold leaf belted, floor-length, tulle and gossamer gowns as well as a gorgeous strapless wedding dress with a sweeping train.

Ralph & Russo, the only British house which has been officially included in this year’s Parisian haute couture schedule, focused more on geometric style tailoring and abundant volumes in its maiden catwalk presentation at the event. Designed by the label founders, the Australian designer couple Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo, the line presented an array of beaded and embroidered thin belted dresses in hourglass silhouettes as well as an eye catching front open voluminous outfit paired with matching ankle pants and long, embroidered gloves.
