Spanish textile exports rise 13.4% in Jan-Nov'13

Textile and apparel exports from Spain increased by 13.4 percent year-on-year and touched € 11.17 billion, during the January to November 2013 period, as per the data released by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

According to the data on exports released by the Ministry, the exports of the apparel sub-sector during the January to November 2013 period reached € 7.98 billion, indicating a surge of 17 percent, compared to the same period in 2012.

Meanwhile, during the first ten months of 2013, Spanish textile and apparel imports amounted to € 13.67 billion, recording a jump of 4.4 percent year-on-year. Imports in the clothing sub-sector during the January to November 2013 period touched € 10.40 billion indicating an increase of 3.7 percent compared to the same period in 2012.

According to the Ministry’s monthly data for November 2013, the country exported textiles and clothing worth € 964 million, registering a rise of 7.1 percent compared to the same month in 2012. Exports of garment sub-sector grossed € 672 million during the November month in 2013, indicating a rise of 12.5 percent year-on-year.

In terms of imports, the country imported textiles and apparel worth € 1.2 billion in the month of November 2013, recording a jump of 7.7 percent compared to the same month in 2012. Imports of the garment sub-sector amounted to € 920 million registering an increase of 8.1 percent year-on-year.
