Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid to begin on Feb 14

Once again, the capital city of Spain is gearing up to host its forthcoming 59th edition of fashion and style extravaganza, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid.

Slated to take place from February 14 to 18, 2014, the event will feature an array of fall-winter 2014-2015 collections from a talented mix of young and seasoned fashion designers.

Designer Miguel Palacio will showcase his heavy on embroidery, prints and stones collection on the opening day of the event. The black, purple, green and red dominant line is made from exquisite materials like silk, georgette, crepe, tweed and technical fabrics.

Ace talent Francis Montesinos, from the autonomous community of Valencia, has taken inspiration from the trips of Italian merchant traveller Marco Polo for his new range, which will be staged on the second day of the soiree. Titled as ‘Silk on the Road’, the line will reflect the interesting vibes of ancient cultures.

Apart from the style studded catwalk shows from the established names, up and coming labels like Veronika Vimpelova and Rafael Cameselle will showcase their creations as part of the emerging designers’ platform, Samsung Ego 2014, at the event.

Other than the home-grown designers, the five-day-long fashion do will also display pieces from Peruvian brands like Meche Correa and Sitka Semsch.

Lima-based designer Jessica Butrich will present her spring-summer collection ‘Impossible Love’ at the event. Based on the story of a love relationship between a penguin and flamenco, the line is replete with retro, modern and tropical looks.
