DLF Emporio hosts 'Student Designer Awards'

The culmination of a fashion extravaganza and a unique platform to nurture the next generation of fashion and design was celebrated with glittering award ceremony held at DLF Emporio, New Delhi on 18th February 2014.
 
The second edition of ‘DLF Emporio Design Awards 2013-14’ took place on 18th February at India’s finest luxury destination, DLF Emporio. This event further resonated that DLF Emporio apart from being India’s finest luxury destination is also an establishment that identifies and nurtures raw talent. DLF Emporio now enters into a second year of building talent and encouraging a new generation of aspirant designers to achieve their dreams.
 
A special jury consisting of stalwarts such as ace designer Vineet Bahl, classic fashion designer Leena Singh of Ashima Leena, fashion guru and leading stylist Gautum Kalra, FDCI president Sunil Sethi, style icon and fashion editor Bandana Tiwari and Senior Vice President of DLF Emporio, Dinaz Madhukar. The jury was seen judging and ranking the designs of the contestants in the DLF Emporio’s atrium.
 
The theme of this edition of DLF Emporio Design Awards was to celebrate 5 years of luxury in India by ‘Reinventing the Classics’ such as the iconic Burberry Trench, Dior Bar Jacket, Fendi Baguette or even the traditional Indian Saree.
 
The event was a huge success as many entries were received from international and Indian colleges. The budding designers hailed from institutes such as Pearl Fashion Academy, NIFT, Amity University, G.D Goenka School of Fashion, J.D Institute of Fashion and London College of Fashion among others. 
 
The platform gave students the freedom to explore boundless creativity and innovation in the field of accessory/product design. The special jury of fashion industry stalwarts were seen encouraging the students and soon after ranking designs announced the winners of the coveted DLF Emporio Design Awards.
 
The winner of ‘Student Designer of the Year 2013-14’ and also the People’s Choice award went to Ms. Purwa Kumari Sharan from NIFT, Gandhinagar for which she designed stunning saree inspired earrings. To launch the start of a spectacular career, Purwa now gets a chance to intern with a leading Indian designer and also the opportunity to design and place her collection at the DLF Emporio Luxury Shopping Festival in April 2014.
 
The two runner-ups ‘Student Emerging Designer of the Year 2014’ awards were won by Aiken Derissaliyeva from G.D Goenka School of Fashion, who submitted her design in the accessory category and Anubha Jain, Pearl Academy of Fashion, who sent her design in apparel category for her stunning inspiration of a denim saree.
