The final third and fourth day of Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) were all about traditional designs with designers showcasing modern versions of the country’s beautiful costumes and fabrics.

Staying true to this year’s theme of promoting local fashions, designer Priscilla Saputro showcased a 54-piece collection of Javanese Kebayas. Replete with elegant Javanese batik, the collection was divided into six themes—Silent Romance, Innocence, Ethnic Glam, Folk line, Exotic Purity and Royal Tradifiesta.

The range included an array of vibrantly coloured ruffled evening wear and feminine cocktail dresses painted with ancient Javanese language scripts.

Continuing with the trend of showcasing Indonesian women’s traditional blouse-dress, designer Anne Avantie featured several contemporary interpretations of Kebayas on the fifth and last day of IFW. Titled as Legong Mimpi, the pieces, such as the Cinderella number, were decorated with rich colourful motifs.

More than 55 designers participated at this year’s edition of IFW, which was held under the theme of Local Movement, a program which aims to support original Indonesian products through fostering love for local fashion. The program not only encourages the production of local products but also supports SMEs, designers, entrepreneurs and related associations.
