Balenciaga fancies up shopping bags with knits at PFW

Iconic French fashion house Balenciaga kicked off day three of Paris Fashion Week (PFW) with a knitwear heavy collection mixed with fancied-up colourful shopping bags, designed under the guidance of the New York-based creative director Alexander Wang.

Peppered with dashes of navy, purple, lilac, crimson, yellow and black, the Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 line featured fisherman sweaters, toggle-front jackets, crystal-adorned neck-to-wrist cover-ups, slightly flared slim fit trousers and belted round shouldered full-skirted dresses.

Maximalist Indian designer Manish Arora gave the onlookers a sugary rush through his candy hued and confectionary patterned ensembles, replete with cupcake, jelly beans and Popsicle motifs.

Teamed with LED-lit sneakers and striped leg warmers, the psychedelic range featured Peruvian circle skirts, drop-waisted Chinese worker trousers, printed waterproof hooded capes, furry fruity caps or ear muffs, and nylon backpacks with loose dangling legs.

French couture house Balmain blended safari chic and hip-hop styles in its latest catwalk collection, created by Olivier Rousteing. Based on structured figure accentuating silhouettes, the heavily studded and embellished ensembles included bandeau skirts, chunky biker jackets, combat trousers, cinched waist dresses, cargo jackets and skirt-over-trouser looks in pops of red, yellow and blue.

Fashion label Nina Ricci designer Peter Copping charted the day to day life of a modern woman with its partly boudoir and partly loungewear inspired line, which showcased long-sleeve high-neck silk dresses, skirtsuits, leather back knitted separates, double-face coats, lace flower appliquéd nightshirt shape unstructured blush-pink frock, and patchworked or neck-to-hem inset attached LBDs.
