McCartney, Elie Saab & Saint Laurent dazzle PFW day-7

English fashion designer Stella McCartney opened the seventh day of ongoing Paris Fashion Week (PFW) with her Autumn/Winter 2014 ready-to-wear showcase.

Decorated with shiny gold zippers, the line included pea-coats, mini dresses, slim pants, voluminous parkas, sleek suits, mountaineering rope embroidered sweatshirts, skirts, jumpers and dresses with cut-out panels on waists. The ensembles were all stylishly paired with polished tote bags and three-inch soled smart oxford shoes.

Hollywood’s celebrity favourite fashion designer Elie Saab chose to pay more attention to daywear, rather than his signature classy evening gowns, for his latest catwalk parade at the PFW. Adorned with embroidery, florals and prints, the range presented mini dresses, jumpsuits, and furry capes and coats in shades of green, burgundy, black and mauve. The Lebanese designer’s accessory collection included an array of luxury leather and reptile skin handbags in warm jewel tones.

Parisian fashion house Saint Laurent’s current creative head Hedi Slimane took inspiration from the works of the famous American conceptual artist John Baldessari for his A/W creations. The 45-year-old French fashion designer based his collection on short simple no-fuss silhouettes peppered with shimmering sequins. The pieces included Lurex tweeds, furry A-line coats, crisp skirts, cosy Fair Isle sweaters, dresses and mink-cardigans. The ensembles were aptly teamed up with classic Mary Jane shoes dipped in sparkling glitters.
