Braskem files 80% more patent applications in 2013

Braskem filed 112 patent applications in 2013, or almost 80% more than in the previous year. This brought the number of patents held by the company in Brazil and abroad to 764 in the areas of biotechnology, green chemistry, naphtha-based chemistry as well as other fields.
The importance of sustainable chemistry to Braskem is reflected by the fact that of all the patents granted to the company, approximately 15% are related to products made from renewable materials.
Braskem recently was listed among the 50 most innovative companies in the world by the U.S. magazine Fast Company.
The only Brazilian company to be included in the ranking, Braskem was recognized for its research in products made from renewable resources, such as its Green Plastic.
