Local labels to hog limelight at Peru Moda 2014

Well-established local brands and designers that are ready to internationalize will hog the limelight at the 17th edition of the major Peruvian fashion and apparel fair Peru Moda 2014, slated to take place from April 9-11, 2014, in the capital city of Lima.
 
With a primary aim to exhibit the best of Peruvian fashion industry in terms of readymade apparel, accessories and textile industry-related products and services, the event is gearing up to receive nearly 2,000 visitors from around the world.
 
Expected to attract some 400 buyers from countries like the US, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Japan, Poland, China, Denmark, Sweden and Finland, the trade fair will feature creations from Mexican, Panamanian and Chilean brands.
 
Famous Peruvian designers such as Kujon Sumy, Sergio Davila, Meche Correa, Jose Miguel Valdivia, Andrea Llosa, Harumi Momota, Edward Venero, Elfer Castro, Carlos Vigil, José Clemente Jose Zafra, Fátima Arrieta and Alessandra Petersen will showcase their eclectic creations at the event.
 
Other than the home-grown talents, small and medium sized entrepreneurs belonging to the regions of Arequipa, Huancavelica, Junín, Ica, Cuzco, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Piura, Loreto, Cajamarca, Puno and Ayacucho will also exhibit their products at the fair.
 
In addition to the domestic manufacturers, the fair would also display a line of Peru-produced colourful garments designed by the New York-based designer Mara Hoffman and few alpaca fibre made clothing ranges created by Danish designers Stella Nova, Gudrun and Gudrun as well as Cph Ayni.
 
Also, the internationally acclaimed Spanish fashion designer Custo Barcelona will return to the Peruvian expo after a two-year-long hiatus. Known for his fluid creations, the designer showcased his last collection at the fair in 2011.
 
The upcoming instalment of Peru Moda will be organized by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PROMPERU), in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Association of Exporters (ADEX), the Lima Chamber of Commerce, the National Society of Industries, Trade Society of Peru and the Peruvian Institute of Crafts.
