'2014 is crucial year for Chinese textile industry'

The ongoing year 2014 would be crucial for the future development of the Chinese textile industry, according to Xu Wenying, vice president of the China Textile Industry Association.

Addressing a meeting in Beijing earlier this week, Mr. Wenying said in face of the existing problems, the Chinese textile industry needs to speed up the pace of industrial restructuring, followed by addressing the increasingly grim situation of energy conservation, and finally, finding a solution to tight human resources situation.

He said the development of the Chinese textile industry has been hampered by such problems and it is imperative to find practical solutions as soon as possible.

According to him, 2014 is a crucial year as there are opportunities for development, and suggested focusing on five aspects for positive development during the year.

The first goal should be adhering to scientific and technological innovation by establishing and improving new product development team and mechanisms. The second goal should be good brand building by enhancing the quality of enterprises. The third would be to effectively manage innovation. The fourth would be to become socially responsible by promoting energy conservation and adopting environment-friendly techniques. Lastly, attention should be paid to work of industrial transfer.
