According to a statement issued by CANAIVE, the day-long conference titled ‘Fashion Coordinator: Space for New Generations’, was organized with the support of the Strokes Foundation—CANAIVE’s agency for social responsibility, and saw participation from young professionals across the country aiming to make a career in apparel manufacturing and fashion designing.
During the conference, Lilian Balzaretti de Rivera Torres, president of the Strokes Foundation, said it is necessary to invite future professionals and make them aware to utilize renewable materials creatively and use environment friendly fibres to manufacture apparel products.
The idea behind the conference is to promote the thought of reuse, reduce and recycle, in apparel manufacturing, in order to save natural resources such as water, which has become scarce during recent times, she added.
At the conference, Mexican corporate social responsibility specialist Alejandro Guerrero highlighted the importance of marketing apparel products from a sustainable angle, not only to use it as a competitive edge amongst other garment manufacturers, but also to reconnect and reconcile consumers with the environment.
The day-long conference saw several experts on apparel manufacturing and sustainable production giving presentations to young Mexican entrepreneurs as well as upcoming designers, to promote sustainability in garment manufacturing and fashion.
