According to the Seguridad Social data, the number of members registered in the Spanish textile industry stood at 129,860 during the month of March, and decline in the number of jobs during the month is significantly lower compared to last year, when the textile industry lost 1,912 jobs.
During the month of March, membership in employment of the Spanish textile industry rose by 1.2 percent compared to the same month last year, whereas, the overall growth in occupation of the entire Spanish economic sector stood at 0.8 percent year-on-year during the month.
According to the data, sub-sector wise, during the month of March this year, the Spanish textile and garment sector both registered a drop of 0.4 percent number of jobs, compared to the same month in 2013. However, 1,520 new jobs were created in the Spanish textile and apparel sector in March 2014.
Last year, as per the Center of Information of Textile and Apparel (CITYC) of Spain, the number of members registered in the Spanish textile industry stood at 128,600, indicating a decline of 5.5 percent, compared to 2012.
