More than 45 catwalk shows, staged by a series of local as well as foreign designers, were showcased at the just concluded Chinese fashion extravaganza Shanghai Fashion Week.

Home grown designer Zheng Shijing opened the nine-day-long event with her latest line of swimwear. The Beijing Institute of Fashion and Technology grad’s range included one-piece swimsuits, string bikinis, beach robes, caftans and sarongs, adorned with bright tropical prints.

YYO’s CeliaB showcased an extremely colourful Autumn/Winter 2014 collection at the event. Replete with coloured fur, crochet and knits, the featured pieces were flirty short dresses, skirts, wide legged pants and bulky pullovers.

Designer Han Lulu blended her trademark oriental aesthetics into western silhouettes in the latest catwalk creations which included long sweeping evening gowns, short cocktail numbers, fur coats and graceful pristine white wedding gowns.

Other than the above mentioned brands, internationally famous labels like Oasis (Britain) and Dsquared (Italy) along with several other leading designers from Israel, France, Spain and Vietnam also showcased their avant-garde apparel designs at the Chinese soiree.
