The seminar was attended by local industrialists, FCCI representatives, researchers from R & D organizations and local universities.

Engr. Sohail Bin Rasheed, President, FCCI in his welcome address admired the efforts of PCST to organize this very important seminar of national interest. He stressed on the need for an effective collaboration between R & D organizations, industry and academia. In this regard, he assured all kind of support from FCCI.

Dr. Tariq Mahmood, Chief Research Officer PCST, in his remarks highlighted the mandate and functions of PCST and explained the background for the organization of this event. The speaker also highlighted the role of PCST towards the establishment of University- Industry interaction for product development and research according to the need of our local industry. The activities under PCST project, Technology Foresight were also highlighted by the speaker.

The key note lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. N. M Butt, Professor and Chairman, Preston Institute of Nanoscience & Technology (PINSAT) on the applications of Nanotechnology in Industrial sector with special emphasis on textile industry. He demonstrated the nanotechnology applications through video clips which were highly appreciated by the participants. After that there was another presentation by Dr. Waheed S. Khan, Principal Scientist, National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE) Faisalabad, on the topic, Exploiting the Potential of Nanomaterials in Textile Sector.

After the presentations there was a long discussion session among the participants and speakers. During this session participants asked many questions including the possibility of using nanotechnology in textile industry for value addition and innovation. At this point a couple of managers of from textile industry informed that their industrial units have already started the application of nanotechnology in the textile product and major portion of these products are exported to other countries.
