Bridal, formal & Victorian styles show at TGIF Nepal FW

Nepali designer Khushbu Dangol opened the sixth edition of TGIF Nepal Fashion Week with her latest vibrantly coloured contemporary bridal collection. Based on a palette of golden, green, orange, pink and black tones, the range, which displayed several shoulder detailed exquisite flowing lehengas, was made from luxe georgette, cotton, silk and net materials.

Designer Mukta Shrestha peppered her Corporate collection, which featured pieces like buttoned hemp jackets and pleated peplum dresses with colourful collars, with smart classy details.

Anu Shrestha and Ira Karmacharya, from Mandala Silk and Pashmina, offered a range titled Underwater. Adorned with fish and seaweed prints, the line showcased caftan dresses, harem pants, strapless jumpsuits, rompers and a sea shell decorated magenta coloured gown.

The concept of Ying and Yang dominated the runway of designer Rajesh Nepal on the second day. Titled as Darkshadow, the range presented a variety of A-line dresses in opposing tones of black and white.

Design trio Manita Satyal, Sabitri Budhathoki and Mamta Rai featured a chic line named Gothic. Made using leather, lycra and lace, the ensembles were a mix of grunge and classy styles. Some of the standout catwalk creations were stylish tops, flowy A-line numbers and red and white dresses with lacy sleeves.

Designer Mamta Gurung highlighted florals in her latest runway rendezvous. Replete with clean simple cuts, the line’s major attractions were Victorian style ball gowns, fitted bodices and voluminous skirts.

Fashion talent Daljit Sudan’s Ruh And Ruhani range included both menswear and womenswear pieces. Based primarily on a palette of whites, the line showcased pants, jackets, sherwani kameez and dresses.
