Birmingham Fashion Week shines with new & seasoned talents

Once again the crème-de-la-crème of the US state of Alabama and its neighbouring states gathered to showcase their lines of exemplary creations at the just wrapped up fourth season of Birmingham Fashion Week (BFW).

Anthony Ryan Auld, a former Project Runway participant from Louisiana, showcased a total of 30 to 40 pieces, taken from his Spring-2014 and Fall-2014 lines, at the five-day event. The spring collection ANT featured upbeat wearable ensembles and the Fall range ‘Life and Darkness’ displayed mysterious designs in shades of gray and black.

Fashion label Baer’s Den presented men’s casualwear ensembles such as jeans, graphic T-shirts and blazers, whereas Salence opted to show outerwear designs like bubble coats and peacoats at the soiree.

Birmingham-based designer Heidi Elnora staged a very theatrical runway show, replete with a brief ballet performance. Punched with a dark macabre taste, the parade featured couture like bridal gowns.

The University of Alabama grad and NBC’s Fashion Star season 2’s winner Hunter Bell chose to present a spring/summer collection, peppered with feminine silhouettes and streetwear details like leather panels, at the event.

In addition to the famous fashion designer showcases, the new rising talent Lauren Ledford was awarded with the Emerging Designer title for her mini collection titled New Parisian Countryside at the southern fashion do.

Also teenage design student Sarah Foret scooped the first prize at the BFW’s Buffalo Rock Company Rising Design Star ‘Rock the Runway’ challenge for her Alexander McQueen-inspired creation. The contest’s second and third positions were occupied by Bradford Billingsley and Rigdon Hendrix.
