Union General de Trabajadores (UGT) and Confederación Sindical de Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) have organized a rally to express their concern over the unstable scenario in the footwear and textile sector.
The rally begins 8:30 pm, today, at Plaza Castelar in Elda and ends in the Town Hall square.
National leader of UGT, Cándido Méndez, will be amongst the demonstrators.
UGT and CCOO hold Valencian regional government responsible for the industry's tough situation where the Alto and Medio Vinalopó districts in Alicante are struggling to cope with the rising unemployment and redundancy programmes.
However, Jesús Caldera, Employment Minister, has announced in Congress that the government will soon approve an 'ambitious' plan for the textile industry that has strong support from unions and businesses.
