60 Panamanian firms to attend Colombiamoda 2014

Coordinator of the Business and Investment department of the Institute for Export and Fashion of Colombia (INEXMODA), Carolina Fernandez, who recently made a visit to the Panamanian capital of Panama City, informed that the country would have the highest representation of buyers so far during the three-day event, held concurrently with Textiles 2 and the Fashion for the World fairs in Colombia, reports Prensa Libre.

According to the INEXMODA official, last year, Colombia exported textiles worth US$ 23 million to Panama, and imported textiles worth $4 million from the country.

The equation of trade between the two nations may change if alliances are achieved between apparel firms of both the countries during the three-day fair, she added.

Ms. Fernandez said that through the fair, Colombia aims to seek strategic partnership with Panama, in order to provide an opportunity to Panamanian apparel brands to promote them and enable them to enter Colombian market.

Considered to be Colombia’s Fashion Week, the Colombiamoda fair is the most important trade platform in Latin America, where leading domestic and international apparel manufacturers, distributors, and designers present their latest collection to more than 65,000 visitors who attend the show.

The three-fairs gather more than 1,780 international buyers from 50 different countries, and the exhibitions would have several gateway shows where world renowned designers would be showcasing their latest collections, and parallel to the event, various seminars and conferences would also be held where apparel manufacturers would get the opportunity to interact with international buyers and exchange information.
