The Indian textile revivalist Aneeth Arora will open the forthcoming 24th edition of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2015, slated to take place from October 8 to 12, 2014.

Known for her exemplary indigenous fabric crafted designs, the New Delhi-based talent will showcase her eclectic creations at the bi-annual event, which will be organized by the apex body of fashion design in the country Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).

“I am excited and honored to be opening the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. Being the first show of the fashion week it gives us a chance to create an elaborate setup, and to do an interesting show case of our Spring summer 2015 for the viewers. I am grateful to FDCI for giving me this opportunity,” said the designer in a statement.

While announcing Arora’s participation, Mr. Sunil Sethi, the FDCI President, stated, “The Fashion Design Council of India is proud to announce Aneeth Arora as the opening designer for WIFW SS-15. She is known for her love for indigenous Indian crafts and weaves, which boldly find a place in her eclectic presentations.”

Apart from Arora’s opening parade, another major highlight of the five-day event, which would showcase exquisite creations from some of the leading fashion industry names, will be the grand finale show by the celebrated National Institute of Fashion Technology grad Rohit Bal.

The 53-year-old widely acclaimed designer will grace the finale, which is due to be held on October 12, 2014, with a truly regal collection that will be inspired by the resplendent glory of India's rich cultural heritage.

Expressing his delight on the honour to cap off the soiree, Bal said “It is wonderful to be back and a great honor to be doing the grand finale at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week once again. It is a perfect platform for me to show uninhibited creativity and express myself through a collection that transcends all seasons and reflects my sense of aesthetics without any constraints.”

The FDCI President also expressed his sentiments by adding, “We are thrilled to announce Rohit as the Grand Finale designer of WIFW SS 2015. Rohit is one of the few designers, who has pushed the proverbial boundaries of style to carve a distinctive niche for himself in the fashion world by making strong statements. This renowned perfectionist will give an exhilarating culmination to a week buzzing with creativity, innovative designs and exciting shows.”

In addition to the afore-mentioned talents, the prestigious do will also exhibit creations from names like Manish Arora, Malini Ramani, Wendell Rodricks, Gauri and Nainika, Nida Mehmood, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Ranna Gill and Varun Behl.

Known for its evening, sports, casual and formal wears, the ITC-owned premium fashion brand Wills Lifestyle operates through a network of more than 100 stores across 40 Indian cities.

Represented by over 350 members, the non-profit organization FDCI was founded with the objective of promoting, nurturing and representing the best of fashion design talent in the country alongside propagating the business of fashion. (PB)
