Established and emerging names from the Aussie fashion industry along with a prolific group of Asian design talents showcased their creativity at the just wrapped up 16th instalment of the Australian fashion frenzy Telstra Perth Fashion Festival (TPFF).

Attended by more than 50,000 visitors, the event witnessed a bold revealing collection presented by ae’lkemi label designer Alvin Fernandez who sent his models down the runway in transparent sweeping silk gowns, dresses and caftans in soft ethereal hues.

The red-carpet specialist Alex Perry displayed his lace crafted fun and flirty looks as part of the Australian retail chain Myer’s fashion show whereas the Filipino couturier Michael Cinco wove magic with his candy pink and musk hued ensembles at the soiree.

Designer Morrison’s coastal-inspired summer collection was made using knit, organic cotton, linen and silk materials. The Fremantle native’s key designs were flowy floor skimming skirts, palazzo trousers and voluminous printed maxi dresses.

The English film director Ridley Scott’s hit 1982 sci-fi movie Blade Runner played as the source of inspiration behind the West Australian-based label Zhivago’s latest catwalk presentation. Created by the brand’s designer duo Lydia Tsvetnenko and Lara Kovacevic, the futuristic range, which included pieces like sequined jumpsuits, tiny shorts, shimmering blue short suits and athletic-inspired minidresses with plunging V-shaped necklines, was accentuated with exaggerated shoulders and bodycon silhouettes.

In addition to the aforementioned names, the festival, which was attended by international media like The New York Times and Business of Fashion, showed clothing designs from the celebrity favoured designer-cum-artist Camilla Franks, traditionally tailored utilitarian label NOM*D and women’s and men’s fashion brand Zambesi.
