The National Institute of Design grad Aneeth Arora opened the 24th edition of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2015 with her latest collection under her label Pero.

The New Delhi-based talent, who is known for her exemplary Indian indigenous textiles crafted designs, showcased a sporty, romantic, comfy, chic and colourful girlie range titled Love on Foliage. Based on a palette of white, green, blue, pink and orange hues, the collection included cotton khadi shorts, shirts and hand-woven daisies and beaded embroidery adorned silk and chanderi made dresses.

The designer duo Alpana and Neeraj drew inspiration from the Japanese obsession with the pop culture aesthetics called Kawaii, meaning cute, for their latest creations. A balanced mix of both cute and minimalistic design ethos, the range was replete with clean lines and sharp linear structures. Accented with bows and scallops, the featured pastel and neutral toned pieces were Harajuku style apron skirts, sharply cut pants and dresses with large floral patches and structured tie ups.

The day also saw a showcase by designer Atsu Sekhose and a S/S collection, which was inspired by the works of the UK-based twin sister artists Amrit and Rabindra Singh, from Indian design veteran Tarun Tahiliani.

In addition to the eclectic runway displays, the day also witnessed the debut of Wills Fashion Drone, a small flying body fitted with GoPro cameras which will fly over the venue till October 12, 2014 and will capture the best moments of the fashion week.

Launched by the Indian conglomerate ITC Limited’s retail label Wills Lifestyle, the flying drone will provide a panoramic view on a live camera and would help in synchronizing all the happenings at the fashion week online.

Mr. Atul Chand, the Chief Executive, Lifestyle Retailing Division, ITC, said in a statement, “Wills Lifestyle has always been at the forefront of innovation and driven the business of fashion in India with style. Being at the helm of creativity and novelty, we have integrated modern technology with fashion yet again this season thereby creating 360 degree brand conversations.”

“In this edition, Wills Lifestyle takes another leap with many firsts on the Indian fashion runway like introducing drones that will capture the aerial footage of the event and a 360-degree selfie booth. RIFD enabled tags that were a huge hit with the visitors last season will again be a part of WIFW and continue to engage people,” he adds.

Known for its evening, sports, casual and formal wears, the ITC-owned premium fashion brand Wills Lifestyle operates through a network of more than 100 stores across 40 Indian cities. (PB)
