The Brazilian fashion brand Animale opened the Winter-2015 instalment of the eminent Latin American semi-annual soiree Sao Paulo Fashion Week with its latest ready-to-wear offerings.

Designed under the creative direction of Beth Nabucco, The Silk Road-inspired range was made using cotton, wool, silk and velvet. Based in shades of ivory, beige, apricot, white and indigo, the modern and sensual pieces were zippered dresses, coats and shirting of various lengths.

Designer brand A Raquel Davidowicz highlighted minimalist tailoring with ensembles made from leather looking stretchy wool polyamide, suede and sheep skin like mesh, cotton stretch denim, satin, crepe de chine, silk, georgette and muslin. Created in geometrical shapes, the highlights of the collection were triangular skirts, dresses and belted tunics in a palette of black, white, orange and dark green.

Drawing inspiration from the equestrian universe- manga-wide horses, fields and horse farms, designer Victor Dzenk chose materials like leather, jacquard knit and silk devore to design his latest range replete with pleated skirts, ponchos adorned with hand sewn fringes and nipped in waist dresses in brown, orange, black and blue hues.

Designer Tufi Duek took inspiration from the Vikings and gladiators for the new line crafted with crepe, wool and leather. Embellished with metal and sequins, the warrior-like apparels were based in black, brown, coffee, wine, forest green, gold and metallic blue. The line included long black coats, maxis with plunging backs, skirts, armour-style corsets, jumpsuits and leggings.

The streeetwear brand Cavalera showcased a range inspired from the Grimm Brothers’ age old favourite story Hansel and Gretel. Made from muslin, satin, silk, wool, handloom, leather, denim and chambray cotton, the line included long coats decorated with chessboard prints, patchworks and embroidery as well as shirts with plaid detailed collars for men. For women, the collection showed skirts with dark forest prints, transparent dresses and frilled blouses. (PB)
