The just concluded emerging designers’ platform Maybelline New York Millennial Fashion 2014 showcased exquisite apparel and accessory ranges from several Pakistani new up and coming labels.

Organized by the Fashion Pakistan Council in the city of Karachi, the event witnessed a fine artistic range titled Flight of Birds from designer Madiha Raza. Replete with leather laser cutting details, 3-D textures and digital prints, the range included capes, long skirts and tunics.

Designer Sameer Sain’s jeans-based menswear presentation Denimology, which included shirts, trousers and shorts, was enhanced with interesting jute accents, zip detailing and metal eyelets whereas Abel Emmanuel drew inspiration from the age-old henna art and Hebrew calligraphy for his latest Scarlet Night womenswear line. The featured pieces were structured gowns, embroidered chiffon shrugs, pencil dresses and sequined trousers.

The diminishing Anglo Indian population of the Asian sub-continent became the source of inspiration for Nitasha Yacub’s thick cotton karandi and crochet lace heavy collection Vanishing Culture which was adorned with soft floral prints on a subdued palette of cream and white colours while designer Aalish Mansoor’s Royal Soccer line, which highlighted sarees, draped black dresses, mini-dresses and tights, was a balanced mix of royal arts and soccer ball inspired prints.
