The ‘Sustainability Plus’ feature launched by fibre2fashion.com earlier this year has turned out to be a huge success.

The online feature containing news, views and articles dedicated to advancing sustainable practices across the global textile value chain has seen participation of several leading companies.

“Increasing consumer awareness has driven the (textile and apparel) industry to integrate Sustainability into their vision statements,” says Amit Dayal, assistant vice president & head marketing, Acrylic Fiber Business, Thai Acrylic Fibre Co Ltd, in the special feature.

Explaining its sustainability vision in the feature, INVISTA says its “goal is to create long-term value for our customers and society by using resources more effectively; protecting the environment and the safety and health of our employees and others; consistently applying good science; and employing INVISTA’s Market-Based Management business philosophy.”

Punit Lalbhai, executive director of Arvind Limited, says, “At Arvind, sustainability is a philosophy in practice. It is an integral part of our vision statement – ‘To enable people to experience a better quality of life’. We bring this vision to life through constant innovation which aims to make our production processes more resource friendly, business models socially inclusive, and our products more affordable. For us, the three bottom lines of sustainability - Profit, People, Planet - are but cogs, geared to achieve a unitary goal - a better quality of life.”

Novozymes, BASF, Mafatlal and DuPont are among the several other companies that have participated in the feature giving their insights and opinions on achieving sustainability across the entire textile and apparel value chain.

This is the second edition of Sustainability, after the roaring success of the first feature in 2012.

Fibre2fashion - the world’s largest B2B platform for the global textile, apparel, fashion and retail industry, is now planning to launch the third edition of its special feature on sustainability with the title ‘Enhanced Sustainability’. (RKS)
