PX prices decline in Korea and Southeast Asia last week

Dec '14
The prices of paraxylene (PX), the basic raw material for the polyester value chain, declined in Korean and Southeast Asian markets during the last week ending December 12, 2014.

In Korea, the average prices of PX in the last week were US$ 860 per ton, a decrease of $70 per ton or 7.53 per cent compared to the previous week ending December 5.

In Southeast Asia, too, the average PX prices decreased by $70 per ton or 7.37 per cent and were assessed at $ 880 per ton in the last week.

The decrease in prices in both markets was due to weak upstream energy prices coupled with decrease in downstream product prices in the region.
