Ample product availability affects Asian PTA prices

Ample product availability in the region led to a fall in prices of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) in the Asian region, during the last week ending December 12, 2014.
In Far East Asia, average PTA prices went down by US$ 40 per ton or 5.52 per cent to $685 per ton in the last week, as compared to previous week ending December 5.
In Southeast Asia, average prices of PTA dropped by $40 per ton or 5.33 per cent to $710/ton in the last week, as compared to previous week.
In the Indian market, average PTA prices were assessed at $710 per ton in the last week, showing a decrease of $45 per ton or 5.96 per cent as compared to previous week.
In China, average prices of PTA were $690 per ton in the last week, registering a fall of $35 per ton or 4.83 per cent compared to the previous week.
