Japan's ethylene output declines in November '14

The production of ethylene in Japan declined by 1.7 per cent to 588,400 tonnes in November 2014, compared to production of 598,600 tonnes in the same month of previous year, according to the data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
 
However, ethylene production increased by 6.4 percent in November 2014 over output of 553,100 tonnes in October 2014, the data showed.
 
During the month under discussion, no naphtha crackers were shut, while 2 crackers shut in October 2014. In November 2013, all naphtha crackers were operating.
 
Ethylene is made from naphtha, and is used as a raw material in polyester value chain, among others. (RKS)
