Dorothee Schumacher opens Berlin Fashion Week day3

The German-born and Italy-raised designer Dorothee Schumacher opened the penultimate day of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin with her new Autumn/Winter 2015/16 collection.
Known for her exquisite feminine designs with a sporty twist, the latest ready-to-wear line drew inspiration from 1970s trends. Based on a palette of burgundy, wine red and mustard yellow hues, the crystal and fringe adorned collection included high-waisted flared skirts, boxy leather and tweed tops, biker jackets with padded elbows and eucalyptus printed dresses with corsets.
Hollywood celebrity-favoured red carpet specialist Guido Maria Kretschmer showcased an array of eveningwear pieces for both men and women at the German fashion do. The standouts included sequined robes, dresses with plunging necklines and shimmery jackets.
Johanna Perret and Tutia Schaad, the creative duo behind Perret and Schaad, drew inspiration from the jungle themed paintings of late French Post-Impressionist painter, Henri Rousseau. Replicating the colour combinations found in the artist’s works, the duo based the recent range on a palette of strong red, tomato, deep mossy green, amber, delicate violet, gray and white accents. The collection featured several stone-encrusted woollen coats and skirts.
The Berlin designer Esther Perbandt combined sharp silhouettes with asymmetry in her latest catwalk presentation which included tailored suits and belted jackets in tones of black, white, mustard, moss and ochre.
Jesko Wilke and Maria Poweleit, the founders of German label Glaw, showed a glamorous range comprising black leather pants, camel hair coats, long jumpers paired with long skirts, and a matte black woollen dress with a thigh-high slit and a peeking glittering girdle. (PB)
