Eminent luxury fashion houses and international couturiers showcased their latest bold and avant-garde Spring/Summer 2015 lines at the recently held edition of Paris Haute Couture Week.

Italian company Versace featured a sexy and glamorous range created under the guidance of chief designer Donatella Versace. Enhanced with transparent cutouts and long, curve accentuating form-fitted silhouettes, the presentation displayed flared jumpsuits with frontal split detailing, tight black trouser suits, and an array of dresses and gowns with plunging necklines and thigh-high slits.

Drawing inspiration from 1950s, 60s and 70s styles, French label Christian Dior’s Belgian creative helm Raf Simons highlighted futuristic designs. Replete with shimmering sequins and luxurious layers of lace and tulle, the range included exceptionally designed jumpsuits, floral pattern adorned transparent duster coats and voluminous skirts in psychedelic colours.

Parisian house Chanel’s designer Karl Lagerfeld showed 73 pieces for the next S/S season. Accented with ladylike silhouettes, bare midriffs, low-slung hip belts and crystal flowers, the line featured tweed suits, rose-encrusted beanies and tulle dresses in a mixed palette of pastels and occasional pops of electric blue, yellow and orange.

Italian designer Giorgio Armani’s high-fashion brand Armani Prive showcased some 68 looks at the French couture runway. Decorated with Oriental prints and bamboo motifs, the delicately structured elegant pieces were made using yards of glossy nude fabrics, luxe silks and beaded materials.

Schiaparelli, the recently resuscitated brand founded by late Italian fashion designer and Coco Chanel contemporary Elsa Schiaparelli, showcased an innovative catwalk line themed as ‘Elsa’s pioneering spirit’. Embellished with poker chip buttons and embroidered 3-D bows, the featured ensembles were silk trousers and constellation print eveningwear. (PB)
