Vietnam's footwear exports to the US earned US$11.9 million in value in the first quarter of the year.
It is expected that the country's footwear exports to the US will continue growing sharply thanks to the fact that the US is restricting imports from China. Besides, Brazil is also facing difficulties in exporting to this market due to the climb of Real vs. the Dollar.
Footwear exports have also been witnessing its recovery in the Italian and Spanish markets after the slowdown for a long time. In particular, footwear exports to Italy and Spain in the first three months registered a 13% and 19% increase over the corresponding period last year to $36.51 million and $19.39 million, respectively.
Footwear exports to two largest markets, Germany and France, however, faced difficulties. Export turnover to Germany posted a 27.65% on-yr drop to just nearly $71 million and exports to France also edged down 24.55 per cent to $32.71 million.
