Bt cotton seeds to be available at Rs750 during 2007 season

Gujarat Government has decided that farmers should get Bt cotton seeds at Rs750 per packet of 450 gram during 2007 season. Bhupendrasinh Chudasma, Agriculture Minister of the state will shortly call a meeting of producers and distributors of the seeds in this connection.
The intervention of State Government was necessary as the producers and distributors sold out Bt cotton seeds at high prices between Rs1400 and Rs1700 till the last year, ministry sources revealed.
Sources also informed that the current prices of seeds will help farmers reap benefit of Rs80 to Rs100 crores as they gained Rs34.34 crores last year.
Moreover, minister also urged farmers to use pure cotton seeds to reap good yield.
