'Vibrant' Gujarat well poised in nonwoven & technical textiles sector

'Vibrant' Gujarat can take lead in the 'sunrise' non-woven and technical textiles, clearly emerged out of an interaction between the industry players and promoters of these sectors.

Rory Holmes, President American Nonwoven Fibres Association (INDA) in his address said India was 'well-poised,' what with his Association out to extend all help offering their networking, technical assistance, training of manpower, skills and experience.

C K Wong, Chairman & CEO, US Pacific participating in the interaction stated that India can do better than what China had achieved so far in the field during the past 20 years.

Arun N Jariwala, Chairman, Surat Art Silk Cloth Manufacturers Association, briefed on the steps taken by the Central and Gujarat State Government, which was the first Indian State to promote this sector by instituting a Working Committee to provide necessary fillip to an industry which in its infancy. He gave a call to entrepreneurs to diversify, innovate and satisfy the growing Indian market.

In his inaugural speech, Industries Commissioner, Arvind Agarwal recalled chain of events that led to successful conduct of the present Vibrant Gujarat event and INDA delegation's visit to Gujarat.

Making a presentation on MANTRA – Man-Made and Textiles Research Association, Director, Dr S K Basu spoke about the activities and facilities available at his institute in Surat.
