Market diversification boosts Jiangyin textile export

Jiangyin textile exports continued to see high growth in 2006. Jiangyin Inspection and Quarantine Bureau handled a total number of 24,000 lots of textile export reports, amounting to US $684 million, up 20.16 percent from 2005 lots, and 16.24 percent in terms of value.
Textile exports have maintained rapid growth in the past 10 years, and continue to occupy the leading position in Jiangyin export products.
A great deal of scale enterprises and industrial chain integrity are the main characteristics of Jiangyin textile industry. The city now has more than 2,000 textile enterprises, of which chief companies are over 50.
Besides, elite enterprises with annual sales income over billion yuan are 30. There are a number of listed enterprises, with products related to chemical fiber spinning, yarn spinning, weaving, dyeing and finishing and garments.
In recent years, Jiangyin has strengthened its textile exports to the US and EU, while expanding the markets of non-export restrictions.
Jiangyin has adjusted product structure and increased high-end apparel products to Japan, South Korea. Meanwhile they take full advantage of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area agreement, the Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement and other preferential policies to expand exports to Southeast Asia.
Jiangyin actively explores Australia, Latin America, Middle East and other emerging markets, and gradually increases exports to African market.
Adhering to the development strategy of market diversification is the key to maintain high growth of export volume. By the end of 2006, Jiangyin exported its textile products to 103 countries and regions in the world.
