In 2006, footwear industry imported fabric worth US $260 million, a year-on-year decline of 1.1 percent, sources informed.
Footwear fabrics are imported from 45 countries and Taiwan tops the list of exporters followed by Korea, China, Japan and Hong Kong.
During first eleven months 2006, Taiwan exported materials worth $98.3 million, a year-on-year increase of 4.34 percent.
Sharp drop in imports from China (11.28 percent) Hong Kong (32.2 percent), Korea (3.42 percent), England and Afghanistan were witnessed during this period.
While imports from Germany, Indonesia, France and Singapore represented increasing trend during the period.
