Japanese kimono with 'Made-in-China' tag

18
Jan '07
In past ten years, sales of Japanese kimono have decreased by 50 percent. Now, most of the kimonos are produced by China, Korea and other countries.

This helps to reduce production cost of the kimono and increases profits margin of manufacturers.

Different patterns of kimono are designed by Japan and rest of the production is carried out in China.

The price of kimono waistband manufactured in China is about US $8000, which is not less than the price in Japan.
