Ongoing exhibition of Kashmiri traditional handicraft products showcasing exquisite handicraft specimen including carpets, shawls, garments and woodcarvings in New Delhi, will continue till February end.
Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Gulam Nabi Azad who visited the exposition, reiterated his Government's commitment to help artisans, to expand market for handicraft and handloom products.
The State's 20 handloom units produce handicrafts worth Rs10 bn.
Kashmiri handicrafts products worth Rs700 crore exported to middle-east and European nations presently, is targeted to rise up by Rs300 crore during this fiscal.
Envoys of several Arab countries were also invited by State Government to expose exquisite products crafted by Kashmiri craftsmen.
Handicrafts are exported mainly to European and Arab regions. Only Arab countries have been invited today as we wanted both countries to be invited separately, said Azad.
Jordon Ambassador Mohammad Ali Dahir was highly impressed with products on display and called them as masterpieces.
This exhibition gives a real insight into Kashmiri culture and Kashmiri handicrafts, showcasing impressive hand made textile and embroidery, said Uzbekistan Ambassador Sayeed Akmal.
