Sears advised of potential safety hazard relating to Graco Highchair

Sears Canada has been advised by Graco Children's Products Inc. of a potential safety hazard relating to the Graco Contempo Highchair. It has been discovered that the highchair can collapse if it is not fully opened and locked into place from the storage position prior to use. This can potentially cause injury to a child occupying the chair.
The Graco Contempo Highchair was sold at Sears Canada retail stores as well as through the Sears Canada catalogue between August 2005 and December 29, 2006. The model numbers affected are: 3800KAS, 3800GGG, 3800SML and 3810PST and can be located underneath the snack tray on the highchair. The corresponding Sears item numbers found on your receipt of sale are: 68836, 68001, 68800 and 68331.
Graco has received 18 reports of the highchair collapsing unexpectedly. There have been no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
In the interest of consumer safety, Sears Canada urges customers who continue to own the affected Graco Contempo Highchair to stop using it immediately and contact Graco Children's Products Inc visit company's website to obtain a free retrofit kit.
The free retrofit kit contains a custom designed cover that can be attached to the cross brace to prevent the highchair from collapsing. Catalogue customers will be contacted by mail.
Sears Canada will be posting signs in all of its retail stores to advise customers of this safety recall. Sears Canada is bringing this matter tothe public's attention in the interest of consumer safety and apologizes for any inconvenience.
