Kamal Nath asks textile ind to develop base in domestic market

Shri Elangovan said that in order to facilitate the industry to install state- of – the – art machinery, the Government has strengthened and augmented the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS). “The matter of extension of TUF Scheme has been discussed at the highest level and hoped that the Scheme would be extended”, he added.
Shri Kamal Nath also released a booklet “Indian Textiles-Poised” on the occasion. Earlier in his Welcome Address, Shri Shishir Jaipuria, President NITMA said that the opportunities in the technical textiles should be tapped. India, he said, was a potential market of Rs 42, 000 crore as on 2007-08 with a growth rate of 11 per cent per annum.
Shri Shekhar Agarwal, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Textile Industry has outlined the future prospects of the Indian textile scenario and said that the body of experience indicate that zero duty access to preferential areas enjoyed by some countries did not work to their advantage.
NITMA, a premier association of textile and textiles machinery manufacturers of Chhattisgarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttrakhand, has near about One hundred members.
