Cao Qineng is the only male employee at an embroidery store located in Sanlin Town. He opines that men can also master the craft and he is seeking a man to pass on his skills.
He informed the media that embroidery is his family business hence he was interested in this art right from childhood. Cao, who is 45, joined the store two years back.
He has scripted courses which teach embroidery to amateurs. He is busy designing novel patterns.
Embroidery is a time-consuming complex process and it takes him about five days to design a scarf. Since Cao is the fifth generation to inherit his family skills, he believes it is his duty to pass them to someone.
But finding a youngster who can learn these skills is not easy as youth prefer to take a job in offices, instead of working in small factories or stores.
