Key Italian Woolmark licensees at Pitti Uomo in Florence have showcased a range of innovative products to an audience of over 26,000 buyers and industry professionals.
Innovation in styling was seen from Lardini who were promoting a “pull jacket”, a shirt style un-lined pull over jacket. They also exhibited multi-functional qualities suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Tambolini showed their range of wool / cotton blend jackets, including styles with fancy patterns, made by Loro Piana.
Traditionally considered a winter fibre by many, wool is becoming ever more prominent in the spring and summer collections at all the major garment and textile fairs. With a raised awareness of the benefits of wool, and due to it's ability to keep a wearer warm in winter and cool in summer, wool leant itself perfectly to the trend for multi-functional and multi-seasonal garments that are so key for the coming Autumn Winter season.
Key Highlights:
In a show driven by the theme of “elegance”, there was a showcase on Savile Row tailoring, highlighting the significance of heritage and traditional British patterns for the coming season. On the contrary, there was also a strong emphasis on modernity, with less conservative colour combinations and innovative multifunctional garments.
The main suit cloth for the new Autumn Winter season was flannel, seen around the show in mélanges, chalk stripes and varying scales of checks. The overall style was body conscious; slightly slim fitting and shorter length with small lapels.
