After a long time, cotton prices have recorded some movement. From late December, the prices have stuck to the level of Rs2500 per maund and on January 15, 2007, the price uniformity broke and it reached Rs2525 per maund.
However, this level of Rs2525 stayed in the market for more than a week and till January 18, 2007, the prices remained the same.
From January 19, the prices have attained a new level and settled at Rs2550 per maund, according to Karachi Cotton Association.
According to Cotlook Indices, A Index was 60.15 and B Index stood at 57.35 on January 22, 2007.
Around 11,800 cotton bales changed hands at several cotton stations, among which, Upper Sindh witnessed transaction of highest number of bales, 3000 between the prices Rs2590 and Rs2600.
