AKSIL to encourage woman weavers

Apunba Kanglei Sinnaibi Lup (AKSIL) works to encourage women weavers to take up the profession once again and give them new hope and for this purpose Kiyam Weavers, Tailoring and Embroidery Co-operative Society has been started.

Products made by the Society were displayed at a function with District Co-operative Officer, Thoubal Md Roshan Khan as Chief Guest, AKSIL President Gomti Leima as functional President and Councillor of Thoubal Municipal Council ward no.14, Basant as Guest of
Honour.

There are more than 5 to 6 lakh registered Co-operative Societies in Manipur of which many do not function and others are being run by few people, informed Md Roshan Khan.

Gomti Leima said that AKSIL has undertaken the task of promoting weavers and market products of women weavers in Manipur.

People of the state should also be encouraged to use products made by our native women weavers, she said.
