Even after eight years since war, the economy in cities like Leskovac, in southeastern Serbia is still unstable.

Leskovac, second largest city in Serbia, used to be nucleus of textile industry and was known as second Manchester for its textile.

Out of total population of 69,000, about 11,000 were employed in textile industry during 1990.

These days, only 880 workers are employed in textile sector. Number of prisoners and unemployed are more compared to workers in the industry.

Now, factories in the city are not able to give tough competition to countries like China and Turkey.

Locals blame Government for conducting wars instead of focusing on reforms.

Due to privatization, exports of Stip, a city in Macedonia, increased six times more and problem of unemployment significantly reduced.
