SIE to encourage SMEs and create jobs

Sundar Industrial Estate (SIE), being developed on 1,500 acres land near Raiwind Lahore, is expected to bring an industrial revolution in Pakistan. About 83 percent work on the project is over, hence it will be shortly requiring an investment of Rs60 billion.
SIE is aimed at promoting small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) and it could reduce poverty by generating employment. Most plots here are of one acre land area.
Local and overseas investors are eager to start business ventures in the estate. Over 12 factories have commenced production activities in SIE, whereas 105 units are under construction.
Industrialists are assured by Punjab Government that modern infrastructure facilities of international standards will be provided.
Nearly 135 textile and apparel industries, 150 pharmaceutical ones, 60 engineering ones and many other industries were set up in SIE.
A commercial complex is also developing in SIE on 55 acres area, which will include shopping plazas, quality hotels and sports centre equipped with latest facilities for benefit of industrialists as well as workers.
